Annecy Horse Races

Annecy Horse Races

Walking down to the lake in Anncey we came across these little carts being hired out to children. Looks like they were having lots of fun! Somehow it seemed a whole lot more wholesome than kids sitting at home playing video games!

Daily Travel Photo: Notes

Canon 5D mk 2 + 17-40mm f4L - 36mm, 1/200sec, f11, ISO 100

In these shots I was aiming to get in both the subject and the background to get a sense of place. I do this with a wide angle lens. The first image of the series starts off at f11 - I was trying to get a bit of a panning effect, but quickly gave up on that seeing as the kids weren't moving in a uniform direction, and because i was out on a walk with friends so didn't want to spend too long shooting. The later shots move to f6.3 to try to get a bit more subject separation and a higher shutter speed, but there's a lot going on with parents and children all over the place. Sometimes you just have to decide how much time do you want to spend to try to get a perfect shot, or are you really on a day out. This was one day where the photography came second (but I still quite like these shots!)
