Aswan - City on the Nile by Night, Egypt

Aswan, like many cities in Egypt, has been occupied since ancient times. It sits on a picturesque part of the nile and is one of the main stops for many nile river cruises. Many of the tour boats can be seen here tethered together for the night. It is much smaller than Luxor or Cairo, and has a correspondingly more relaxed atmosphere. There's the ruins of Philue Temple nearby, but the main reason for coming here is to take a local felucca cruise, or to use the city as a base before touring down to the epic ruins of Abu Simbel.
