Berlin Hauptbahnhof timelapse!

Berlin Hauptbahnhof timelapse!

I've been busy this week working on some more time-lapse sequences. The problem with these is that if you make a small mistake, either at the time you take the images, or when you're processing them, you end up with hours of work with very little to show for the effort. Its been a week of learning! The good thing is I'm not really repeating mistakes, but something new pops up each time I shoot. Yesterday, half way through a sequence in Berlin, an automatic sprinkler system started up half-way through a sequence. There's some things you just can't plan for.

Today's "photo" is a still from one of the sequences at Berlin's Hauptbahnhof (Central Train Station) - its processed with a sepia look which I like, but doesn't fit in with the rest of the sequence, so once again its one that I'll be re-processing! In an ideal world, a second train was meant to arrive on one of the central platforms, but uncharacteristicly for this part of the world it was late, so instead you have a whole lot of passengers on the platform wondering when its going to come!

While I wasn't really planning on shooting in Berlin yesterday, when I got up I saw that the conditions there seemed better for the clips I was planning to do, so jumped on an ICE and was there in about an hour - very easy to do thanks to the rail passes kindly sponsered by eurail!

Speaking of trains, the Ultimate Train Challenge started this week, so if you want to follow the progress of a few travelers heading from Lisbon to Saigon by train over the next month, have a look at the the Ultimate Train Challenge website!
