Christopher Street Day Truck Berlin

Christopher Street Day Berlin 2011

Christopher Street Day in Berlin is a demonstration and celebration of diversity in Berlin. It commemorates the the uprising of Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender people against police assaults that took place in New York's Christopher Street in the district of Greenwich Village on June 28, 1969.

It is similar in that respect to the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras - though from my impression of the day it was a little bit tame by comparison! Instead of some of the elaborate floats that feature in the Sydney event, the vehicles of choice here seem to be very large semi-trailers!
