Wenshu Monastery Chengdu, China

Daily Photo: Wenshu Monastery Chengdu, China

Chengdu is a bustling modern city with somewhere between 4.7 to 11 million inhabitants depending on which - if any - wikipedia page you believe! (and presumably how you count them).

Amidst the bustling, modern city of Chengdu, you can find an occasional sample of China's impressive history, and a small slice of tranquility. The Wenshu monastery is one such place. An atmospheric Buddhist temple where monks go about their daily activities in much the way they have since it was first built in the Tang Dynasty (618-907).
