Hôtel de Ville, Paris @ Night (not HDR!)

This image looks a lot like its done with HDR processing. Instead its shot at the time when the ambient light balances out with the artificial lights on this building: the Hôtel de Ville, or City Hall in Paris. As a result, its made from a single 2.5 second exposure from the Panasonic Lumix GF1 and 20mm pancake lens, which was hanging off a gorrillapod attached to a light-pole at the time.

You can achieve some amazing effects with photoshop, but sometimes real life produces similar results.

If you want to read up on how to achieve this effect, have a look at my article on How to take photos at night.
