Melbourne Observatory in the Royal Botanic Gardens

It doesn't really matter where you go in Melbourne, you're likely to encounter two things: gardens and people drinking coffee. No major landmark is complete without some sort of cafe, including the famous Royal Botanic Gardens.

A stroll through the Royal Botanic Gardens in the heart of the city will take you past a few landmarks: Government house, the Melbourne observatory, and the Shrine of Remembrance. Along the way you'll pass some of the 10,000 individual species which the park is home to, and experience the finest botanical garden in Australia.
