Otavalo is a small town in the north of Ecuador that has about 50,000 inhabitants and is surrounded by the volcanic peaks: Imbabura 4,630m, Cotacachi 4,995m, and Mojanda 4,263 m. The high altitude setting serves to exaggerate the saturation of colours, and makes a stunning backdrop to the town which is most famous for its indigenous markets that are held each Saturday.
