Photography Advice

Tuk-tuk taxi que Chichicastenango Guatemala I am a full-time stock photographer specialising in travel photography.

My work provides a glimpse of some amazing parts of the world. Although many of these photos provide a beautiful impression of a place, they are often a poor substitute for experiencing these places in all dimensions and in person. In a photo you miss the beggars, the unsavory smells and the inescapable sounds, but you also miss the real spectacle and wonders. My hope is that this site and my photos can help in a small way to inspire travels of your own.

This page is intended as an information resource for photographers and covers a variety of subjects that may be of interest, including resources for: travel photograpy generally, useful material for Olympus camera users, and information about selling photos through Microstock agencies and Alamy

My work can be purchased for prints or commercial license directly through this site, or through a range of photo agencies.

Photography information and Tutorials:

Amongst photographers I'm certainly not alone in hearing comments like: "wow - you take nice photos, you must have an amazing camera.." True I do have a pretty fantastic camera. If I get it right, it helps me record some amazing places and moments in time. Having said that there are many cameras that are equally capable of taking both good and bad photos. My advise to aspiring photographers is: don't obsess about your camera gear, learn how to use it instead.

I'm developing a series of tutorial-style articles. Olympus users will find these useful, because I use my camera as an example, but I'm aiming to write them in a way that is relevant to people with any type of camera.

Advice about selling photos on Microstock

I fund my travels through selling the rights to use my photographs. Images are available through a variety of royalty-free and rights managed agencies. My roaylty-free images are predominantly images that don't contain recognisable people or trademarks, whereas I mainly sell editorial content on a rights-managed basis.
