Photography Encouraged - Terminal 21 Mall Bangkok

Its fairly common to see shopping malls that discourage photography. In an age where everyone has a camera, often a tiny one inside a phone, banning photography seems like a futile effort.

Instead, the approach taken by this mall, Terminal 21 in Bangkok, is smart. They've realised that photos of their premises, especially when shared through social media means free publicity. Apart from allowing photography, they've set up a whole theme based around travel to encourage people to come and take photos, look around, and hopefully share their experience with their friends on Facebook, Twitter or elsewhere. With free wi-fi inside the complex, it couldn't be easier. This is the only mall, where instead of telling me to stop, security apologised for getting in the way while I was setting up a tripod!
