Pre-Inca Ruins at the Laguna de los Condores, Peru
It seems harder and harder to "get off the beaten path" and to see things that the tourist hoards don't make it to.
One area that fits the description is the Chachapoyas region of Peru, which features the amazing Fortress of Kuelap. While Kuelap gets quite a few visitors, there are many other pre-Inca ruins in the area that are even more remote.
An example are these ruins from the same culture that built Kuelap near the Laguna de los Condores surrounded by the western edge of the Amazon Rainforest.
The ruins are best reached by organising a 3-day horse trekking trip from the small town of Leymebamba, crossing some stunning Andean mountain passes and staying in the modest lodgings near the lake.
