Sticky rice dumplings Bangkok Street Market

Sticky rice dumplings Bangkok Street Market

Six am isn't the time I'm used to getting up, but I had a few pretty good reasons this morning.

The first was that there's a weekly market on just down the road where they sell all sorts of seafood and fresh produce. A friend who's just moved in to the apartment building where I'm living wanted to go, so I agreed to go along.

The second, and my main motivating reason was that I wanted to try out my new camera and lenses. Yesterday I finally bit the bullet and decided to get another DSLR. Given the direction Olympus is going and the advantage of XXXL file sizes on iStock I've now become a 2-system photographer: 5DII for "work" and the GF1 for work and play.

So today's travel photo: The Charoen Nakhon market, first photos with the Canon 5D MkII.

The nifty-50 1.8 for the dumplings and fish, and the 85mm 1.8 for the crabs. Probably going to add a couple of others soon - mainly the 17-40mm f4. I still want to keep this kit portable!

Interesting news

Nice photos, Holgs.

I'm just having a dilemma between upgrading to E-5 and switching to 5DII. I know you used E-30 in the past. Would you mind sharing any first insights about 5DII image quality & ergonomics vs. Oly cameras?

Thanks.

Sure...

But I'm going to have give it a few days - its too early to give a good impression just yet. There's some things that Olympus does better, but I'm really liking the 5D so far.
