Festival in Dharavi Slum, Mumbai India

Travel Photo: Festival in Dharavi, Mumbai

To really appreciate an experience in India you need time to reflect on it. You'll have plenty because its not something you'll ever forget.

Along with Delhi and Varanasi, Mumbai, and in particular the Dharavi Slum was one of the places that most contributed to a change in the way I look at the world.

The above photo doesn't reflect the stereotype I had of life in "Asia's largest slum", it shows the lasting impression I had of the place. One where people were welcoming, worked hard, displayed genuine emotions and took pride in their neighborhood. Instead of finding a place often depicted in a way that the world associates with "ugly", in Dharavi I also saw beauty.

Real joy is this....

Real happiness is this...
