Asia!

Arriving in Asia, you quickly work out that you're a long way from home. The rules that you're probably used to won't apply here.

Getting started:

  • Beware of traffic!
    • It won't always be on the right side of the road
    • Zebra crossings make it easier for drivers to hit you. Don't expect them to stop!
    • Buses still overtake even when there is oncoming traffic
    • Seat belts are an optional accessory in many parts of Asia. Don't expect to find them in cars.
  • Landmarks - don't believe people approaching you here are really after "English practice" often they want to sell something or may even be involved in some sort of scam
  • Trust your instincts! Your gut feeling is mostly right about who not to trust
  • Learn how to use a squat toilet!
  • Take a big bag and not much luggage... Asia is a great place to shop.
  • Plan on staying longer... Asia is addictive - you'll want to stay!

Asia is always an interesting place to travel. Its friendly, fun, very easy on the budget and photo opportunities abound. This page can be used to find stories about some of my favourite places or most interesting memories of Asia, not to mention the photos that go with them!

Veo el mundo... means "I see the world" in Spanish

Photos are posted daily of images from the last 5 years of travel, along with a short note about the places, maps and some information about the camera and settings used.
