Upcoming Travel: Europe by Eurail
Its been a while since I posted an update on travel plans, so after a few days of catching up on some work here in Varna, I've decided to share some news that I've been holding off on for a little while: I'm going to be traveling through Europe with some rail passes generously sponsored by Eurail.com.
When planning a trip through Europe, a big question is always how to travel. If all else is equal, my preference is to go by train.
Last year when I was in Europe my travels were made up of a patchwork of buses, Ryanair and easyjet. The reason I often didn't go by train was that last minute point to point train fares were often just too expensive. I wasn't really planning on traveling as much as I did so I didn't really consider a train pass.
This year I decided early that budget airlines would play no part in the trip.
With this in mind I looked at railpasses as a possible solution. My travel-buddy Lily approached Eurail about promotional passes for the summer for the 2 of us, in return for documenting the trip on this blog, and Lily's: Explore for a year which provides resources and inspiration for travelers taking a year off. (As a side note, if you click through to the link you'll find an interview with me with some background and travel tips!)
Happily the result is that we'll be traveling on some eurail global passes this summer, stopping off in Venice to cover their free gondolas event .
